thank you for sharing this steps
at first I didnt read the perspective well, until I understand its a sphere shape, got bit a bit to get used to :)
now that I see the steps I appreciate the final picture more, as I see how it was build.
do you do small thumbnails at first, for different options?

i usually do thumbnails only when i have little idea on what is needed, then i need to figure out the basic composition. Here i kinda had a weird angle and perspective in mind so i started on a big canvas right away

thank you
I always thought about thumbnails as an exercise for landscapes, as you get the main idea and main subjects right away
also good for checking how the picture "reads" from far and how it works shape-wise

Really like seeing the rough color and value stage on this one!

The amount of work you put into it from start to finish is astounding
This is truly impressive

About how long did it take you to finish?

Glad you like it

it´s a bit hard to tell, i did a few variations of the sketch so that probably took quite a bit of time, around 12 hours in total maybe, it just stretched over several days so can´t say for certain

The first monochrome sketch looks best to me.

Freaking phenomenal.  The jagged edges of the architecture really enhance the overall creepy feel
