Living without. Quite a powerful and profound statement indeed. It can mean many things within itself. Living without feelings, living without assistance or even living without interaction with the outside world itself. Such a personal isolation has never been achieved without some level of deep physical or emotional sacrifice and/or strain that can leave said individual nothing more than a shell of his/her former self as they do nothing more than simply exist within the hazy ether that is life, cording time away until the final bell tolls for their lives. Without by ChrisCold, depicts such an event of isolation; whether or not it was voluntary is simply up to the viewer's imagination.

To begin with, the details and atmosphere work hand in hand in this particular piece like few have seen in quite sometime. Everything on the page just lights up in your mind. The foggy area with these various plant like tentacles or roots strewn about the area, give an unusual feeling of an organic cage for the figure in the center. As if even if it could escape, the vines will always hold him in place against its will, no matter how it tries to persevere. The detail placed in the strange, decrepit figure as well as the various techno-organic tendrils as they extend throughout the landscape give a feeling of deep isolation and silent ambiance that generates a genuine feeling that you are the only being in this strange environment, no one around to help your or tell you what you are doing here to even assist you in your unknown plight of isolation. The dark coloring used only further enhances this atmosphere building upon the already dark and silent ambiance within the brush strokes.

The power behind this piece is as equally as impressive as the concept that created it. Its somber and dark atmosphere coupled with the mystery behind the strange figure that haunts the area will always be a memorable piece that will really darken anyone's favorites.
